95 Xplorer with starting issues

The following has happened about 4 times now:

After driving around town and turning the vehicle off, it will not start back up. No clicking, nothing. The battery has been checked out, Fine. A guy at a parts store had my wife take it from PARK to NEUTRAL and back to PARK again, and it started rightr up. What is the deal with that? It usually happens in cold weather ~25F - 40F outside.

Maybe you got a bad mlps (manual lever position sensor) or its out of adjustment. It monitors what gear the shift lever is in and won't let it start if in gear.
