I love my 5 speed Sport! Its got pretty good get-up-and-go despite the 4.0 OHV. It has a few quirks about it but its the most comforable vehicle I've ever driven. Its also been very reliable to me. if you need easy access to the rear seats then a four door is your best option, but I rarely use the back seats so it work for me.

i'm mostly wondering what kinda problems they have. all 3 of the other explorers i've had we're autos and they always have a weird shift or overdrive problems

The manuals are more reliable than the autos. The biggest problem with the manuals is the slave cylinders tend to go out on them. With that said I've had 5 manual Explorers and haven't had to replace a slave cylinder yet 3 of them having 116,000 miles or more on them the most being about 135,000 miles.

I love my 5 speed sport. It tends to grind a little bit, but it hasn't failed me yet. I think every vehicle should be available in a manual transmission.

I needed to replace the clutch and slave cylinder shortly after I got it and I've put almost 30K abusive miles on it. I have a lead foot and was still learning to drive stick when I got it :D

Sounds good to me. if any of ya'll are on facebook go join Save The Manuals. theres alot of car makers only makin auto trannow cause he sticks ain't sellin well anymore. but thanks for all the info guys. my other choice is a 5spd mustang year range 89 to 98 but i still ain't decided.
