I've got a '96 XLT w/ the 4.0L and 4spd od trans. I've got 64k miles and am on my third transmission which needs help again. Does anyone know if the 5 spd auto can be fit in place of the 4 spd? I know they used this same config. for the Ranger so I don't see why it wouldn't work here. Reason being is I'm tired of getting these rebuilt 4 spds and Ford doesn't produce this trans. new anymore. I would like to go to a new trans. so I could maybe get up my driveway again sometime soon! Thanks all!!
