96 5.0 v8 help!!!

Well i have a 94 and a 96 ford explorer and im currently starting to work on the 96. It has a 5.0 v8 302 i belive i might be wrong idk too much about these motors lol but i now have a new job and i want to start putting in work.

So i want to basically just make it a monster soooooooo

Im thinking
Exhuast
Headers
And supercharger
(obviously i need more than that lmao)

But idk where would be the best site or place to buy any of these items or other items that i would need, so if anyone could help me out i would appreciate it

Also i want to know what other things i would need to reach my goal wich would be somewhere in the lines of 450-500 hp+++

the only aftermarket headers are Torque Monster
there are no supercharger kits being made for the Explorer 5.0 anymore. It can still be done, but would need some custom fab work done.

The fabrication part is ok with me. I know how to weld/cut/etc

What would be all that i would need to make it possible?
 






Well reaching 450-500hp on a 5.0 is a far stretch. It is going to require more than what you mentioned. You are going to have to pull the motor and do a stroker kit and alittle more. The pistons, heads, and all eternals are going to have to be replaced with forged internals and it is going to take a hefty wallet to do it.

I do not know what welding, cutting and etc has to do with a engine, but mechanical skills on the experienced side is going to be a diffinate.

This is not a punch at you, but if you do not know the difference between a 4.0 and a 5.0, then you are in for a rude awakening. I say that because you stated you did not know for sure if you had a 5.0, and you were no mechanic.

that I don't know.
I know I've seen at least one member here who did a custom supercharger setup on his 5.0. I'm not sure if it was here in the Modified 2nd gen section or over in the Need for Speed section

5.0 = 302
 












302 cubic inches is still 4.9L

But Ford thought that "Five Liter" (or Five Litre) sounded better. And they were right...30 years later....they had to bring the '5-oh' back....

Another thought for you is putting in a mustang5.0 cam. you will have to get a tune then and reduce weight...(spare tire) I would say save up look for the gt40p heads and torque monster headers and go from there.


and if your bored 30 over your 302 turns into a 306 which is a true 5.0 :)
