Under the rear seat? Not many places to put it. You will also need to take into consideration the cables. They will all need to be extended. If you do mount it horizontally, change the orientation button on it or it'll skip.

yes i know, i do wiring on my own and know what i'm doing, i was planning on changing the orientation button, and it will not fit under the rear seats, well it will but if i put them there then i can't fold down the rear seats, which i need to be able to do

well alrighty then...

yeah that probably sounded really rude...i apologize i did not mean for it to come out that rude
deepest apologies

You can probably put it in the glovebox, or under the passenger side dash hanging from the A/C plenum. or stash it in the cubby hole in the right rear.

Or if you're like me and have the front seats almost all the way back, stash it in behind the front seat tracks.

Me, it's in the way a bit, but I leave it where it is already. makes it easy to get out when it invariably gets jammed after a year.

You could also get one of the dual media decks out of a later one (the CD and casette or the 6 disc unit) and make it work.

i tried behind the seats, because i to have them all the way back and it still sticks out, i can't put it behind/under the passenger seat either because i have the sport edition have people in the back seats often, so they'd have to step over it, i really do like the idea of under the dash by the glove compartment, i'd do the glove compartment, but that as well is full......i've got a lot of sh-oh-uh-stuff in my car

Patman, how did you remove the cd changer from the console? My magazine that holds the discs wont eject, and I would like to take the whole thing out as well. Ive had the same CD changer in another vehicle before and had problems with the magazine not ejecting and that when it was lying flat, being mounted vertically in the console is even more of a problem. Any advise would be appreciated, thanks!

i removed the changer by just getting into the console and looking around...taking out any screw i thought was going to be an issue...about your cartridge problem, i haven't the slightest idea...other than it might be a problem with the power getting to the cd changer, in which case you'll basically have to take the cd changer out anyway

robinb, the changer is mounted to the plastic "tray" that it sits in. There are screws in the front top lip of it, and the rear to lip. You need to remove the armrest pad, there is one hiding under the hinga. After that, unhook the harness in the front and it lifts right out.

When you remove it, take it out of the tray, and check to make sure the orientation button on the side is marked to "vertical" as that will give you playability issues, but should not affect the ejection function. You may have a dying unit.

thank you for all the ideas, they are all truly great, but i would like my cd changer to be hidden, if you have any ideas i would love to know, i had the idea of putting them hidden inside of the rear seat backrest but realized when i put the seat down i'd have to change the orientation button, which would be a real hassle, considering the seats go from being up to bein gdown quite often

thank you

thanks Joe Dirt..that really helped..and patman too...I hope it will help me get that sucker out of there.

I actually put a JVC cd/mp3 changer under my rear seats on the passenger side. For easy access by me when I'm in the drivers seat.

My changer is about the same size, and the seat still folds down fine without damaging the changer.
