I just got my truck ('98 XLT) today, and I'm getting ready to put my head unit and changer in it. Everything seems straightforward, except the truck came with a stock 6-disc CD Changer mounted in the center console.

Is there a good way to remove it? Also, what's the best way to run wiring from the head unit position to the center console?

Thanks

well....the stock changer is bolted to the plastic "tray" inside the center console. you remove the tray and the rest is staightforward....

there are 4 screws that hold a small plastic piece in that then ties the rest of the console together. the inside of the console is also attached by 4 to 6 screws upon removal of these screws the rest is up to manipulation of the other plastic pieces.
