96 EB Ex not blowing any air

OK, so my 96 Eddie B Ex stopped blowing air out of the main blower a few weeks ago and I've been slowly rooting around to see if I could find the problem. So far I've gotten a new blower motor relay, checked all of the proper fuses (the 50V in the main power box and the 7.5V in the interior fuse box) and they are still good. I hear the blend doors moving and when I turn the fan up to high I hear a 'click' sound coming from what I think is inside the blower motor housing. But, alas, nothing else happens. I have automatic temperature control but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this problem, and I wouldn't know where to start checking on it even if it did.

Anyone out there have some advice they could offer? It's getting cold as hell driving to work here in North Dakota.

Check to see if you are getting voltage at the motor it's self. if you are, tap the motor with a but of a screw driver to see if it blows. If it does, then it is time to get a new motor. It's not that hard to change out, just be careful with the fan. The blower motor is located on the fire wall passenger side. sorry, I don't have a picture as a reference.

Can I just use a regular volt meter on the blower terminals to check that I'm getting power? Also, I'm not super mechanically inclined so if you could tell me where they are located (or get me close) that would be a huge help.

I found a picture on the web, it's not mine, but if you look on the fire wall on the left hand side of the truck, you will see a large circular looking thing, with a smaller looking circular looking thing coming out of it. that is the blower motor. if you need to replace it, you will need to unbolt and set the washer tanks, and servo for the cruise control out of the way, you don't need to disconnect anything, just unbolt and move them slightly. just tap the motor it's self, it will have 2 wires going to it. I hope this helps.

Yes, you can use a voltmeter on your blower terminals with no issue. I think you will find the problem to be the EATC fan controller located in the blower housing. What happens is dirt gets on its high current terminals and shorts it out.

It is behind the cruise control in the photo. There are two screws that hold it in the fan assembly. They are a failure point. It is not a cheap unit(the manual climate control resistor cost a few bucks, this one is very different).

You could probably get creative and jumper 12V to the motor to test it out.

OK I'm going to run out today and grab a volt meter and I would like to do some checking into prices for a new EATC to see what I'm in for if it turns out that 96eb96 is right. Problem is, I can't find anything called an Electronic Automatic Temperature Control Module. Is there something else that this part is called?

If you do need it, It is listed in rockauto under :Blower Motor Control Module / Resistor. Part YH1832 . Around $170. I guess you can get one from a junkyard too, just clean it up with electrical parts cleaner.

Be sure to pull the old one and verify it is burnt. Don't just replace parts.

I am having the same problem with the exact same vehicle. I will post when I find something out.
It happened to me about a month ago, but started working again. Yesterday it wouldn't blow again.

I took the speed control out of the way and have voltage to the blower now and it spins, hopefully it was just dirty connections.

So I just tested the wires going to the blower motor and I show that I have around 12 volts going to it. Is that right? Thoughts?

Also, I plugged the fan in and gave it power while outside the housing and it started working after I spun it by hand. Its probably the motor then right?

12 volts sounds about right. Sounds like the blower motor to me.
