I have a question, this is more oriented towards the response of the 4WD/Auto selection. I understand it is a "when needed response" that the system will engage the front axle once "slippage" is detected on the rear wheels. But I think there may be something wrong with my recently purchased used 96 Exp. I took it out in the snow and it was a mixed bag of when it felt it needed to engage the front axle, one time I could spin the back tires at just about any rate I wanted from little spin to kick it in the a$$ spin and the front wouldn't kick in but ... try again and it would bang the front end in during moderate to hard acceleration/spin. But on the average it seemed that slow minor acceleration with go-no-where spin would not engage the front when you think it should but if I hit the hammer the front would bang into action, sometimes but not always ... any ideas, is it a modulator, sensor, or something?
I saw the "Brown wire mod" which would be fine if this was going to be me driving it but I bought it for my wife for winter driving. And having to stop to engage and disengage the mod when you drive on the interstate to get home isn't an option.

Ok, after reading some posts I have a better understanding of the functionality of the TC
"C-Trac Function
The new C-Trac transfer case (7A195) transmits torque to front wheels through an electromechanical ball ramp clutch after a predetermined delta speed between front and rear driveshafts (4602) is exceeded. These driveshaft speeds are monitored using Hall effect sensors that send signals to the new on-board Generic Electronic Module (GEM). Upon observing an exceeded delta speed, the GEM then activates the transfer case clutch coil with a varying current to minimize the delta speed."
But I guess my question still remains, do I have to do a "hole-shot" launch in the snow everytime I want the front to engage with a hard bang (and that is a crap shoot if it will or not) and thats just how crappy this system is or should it be acting like I would assume it should act meaning a smaller amount of spin should actuate the front with a more subtle engage.

All righty, so I take it back to the dealer/shop (not Ford btw) I bought it from, they have it for a couple days telling me "well we will make this right, if we have to replace the t/c we will" HAHA what a joke, I get it back and they say all they needed to do was clean the shift motor and that is what was causing the fuse to blow and 4wd not to work anymore. And then they say well we called 2 dealers because it will flash after a while and the dealers say this is normal??? Secondly I can't shift it to 4wd/auto (not referring 4lo) unless I am stopped and in neutral (this is supposed to be on the fly right, again not referring to 4lo), also very lame. Well to me none of this is normal because it starts to flash after 5 minutes of 4wd/auto and doesn't work again until I shut it off and restart it. Also, the 4/auto or 4lo will not engage if I am stuck on an incline, I hear the clicks but the front end will not engage. Also this has got to be the LOUDEST 4wd system I have ever heard when it is engaged, and I used to own a 71 GMC 1 ton 4x4 w/36"s with a gear drive t/c (can't remember think it was a 203 t/c been 15 years now). So I guess I am going to have to suck it up and just pay for what was supposed to be right in the first place then if I feel it is worth it take the original place to small claims because they obviously don't want to spend money on parts to fix it. So any ideas what may be happening before I have a dealer also try to take me to the cleaners??
Thanks
