96 Explorer with a transmission problem.

I have a 96 ford explorer xlt runs great but when it get's hot out the car shifts hard and the OD light comes on, if I run the air conditioner it cause the problem to start quicker, when it cold out below 80 degrees it runs fine. even if I run air conditioner. What is wrong with it?
