96 Limited Starting Issues

After long drives my explorer wont start up after getting home. When i try to turn it the engine runs for 2 seconds then dies. After maybe an hour when I try to start her she cranks right up.

Any suggestions on what it might be?

i had a similar problem when my PATS module (part of security system) was failing a couple summers back on my '99. when it shuts off is the theft light on the gauge cluster flashing rapidly?
