I have a 96 ranger 3.0 with the 5r55e transmission all other gears work perfect but the 2nd to 3rd gear acts like it's gonna blow the transmission clean out raised rpms for around 2-3 seconds the truck has a lot of miles as I drive it every day but I don't want to be broke down somewhere should I worry about this problem or not please help

I'm moving your thread into our Transmission subforum.

My independant Ford shop put some Justice Brothers transmission snake oil in my rebuilt '98 trans. Cured the flare. Not sure which additive it was, iirc JB has two to choose from.

That would be my first attempt to fix it.

You may also want to drain the pan and add new fluid along with the additive.

And note Ford puts an in-line filter in the cooler lines on all warranty transmissions. That might help with some of the known contamination issues in these transmissions.

My '99 seems to be flare-free so far. Too bad it's a stripper 4x2....
