I searched and couldn't find the answer I'm looking for. I really hope someone can help..
Vehicle: 96 explorer XLT 4 door. 4.0 ohv 5 speed manual transmission
Okay... I pulled the transmission out to replace the slave cylinder that was leaking. As I was removing the transfer case to pull transmission., I managed to snap off the speed sensor on left side of output shaft in transfer case. No biggy right...
Went to auto zone and bought a new one. It doesn't fit in hole. With a micrometer the new one was bigger than the old one. Went back and measured all the speed sensors they had and they're all too big (it's such as slight difference that the naked eye can't see, but still won't go all the way in hole) .. Went to three different other parts stores and everyone of them pulled up a different sensor than I have when I ask for a speed sensor. Idk what to do.. I don't understand why it's so complicated to get a vss for my truck.
My question: has anyone ever had any type of issues when buying a speed sensor for our trucks? And I missing valuable information? I even took the old one in to show the employees and they still couldn't help me.. I just need to get this fixed.
