Hey all. got myself a 96 explorer a few months ago, as my first car. Its pushing 138xxx miles (not sure how long explorers trannies last), and need help deciding what to do here.

I have been wanting to really work into it, with lift and whatnot, but not sure if its worth it at this point. Seems to run just fine to me. Like i said, has 138,000 miles, and check engine light goes on and off on a regular basis. I have ridden on it for 6 months, and nothing has gone wrong, so im assuming its just a messy sensor, or maybe someones got an idea?

Anyways, i guess the real question is should i put this work in it, or is it too late? I would like to put a 3" body lift and shackles on it, or something similar. Along with something around 32's. Do you all think it would be a good idea, or will it really tear on my tranny? Any help or opinions would be great.

am at 138k miles....nothing seriuos has gone wrong. just normal wear and tear. www.putfile.com/explrths. As far as the engine light, go to advanced, aoutozone, pepboys, who ever. mmost places will run your codes and tell you what is wrong for free

Thanks expirths. Yeah it runs fine now, just was curious about how something liek that runs at that many miles, and ya answered it. I got an autozone about 5 miles down the road. I'll have to run down there and give it a try.

No problem
