I'm mapping out what I plan to do with my '96 XLT 4D V8, and part of the plan is a wheel upgrade ... 17x8 Cobra wheels with 5.72" backspacing, with Michelin 255/55-17 tires.
With this wheel change, I would like to upgrade the front brake calipers. Two reasons: 1) I tow an enlosed trailer quite a bit, and having too much braking power is just enough, and 2) with the new wheels, you can easily see the brake calipers on all four wheels.
In addition to the caliper upgrade, I'd like to install braided brake lines. Does anyone make a "kit" for the Explorers? Or perhaps someone knows of a source to build a braided brake line out of parts and pieces.
Any suggestions or comments appreciated.
