hi sorry I'm new so here come the questions

I've got a 97 XL... the factory radio just has a tape player, but has the buttons to support a cd player ??? did they come from the factory with a changer as an option ???

I have a sony (analog) 6 disc changer from another system.... is it possible to hook this up to the factory radio.... if so where were the changers located when they came from the factory.... do they have a wire running to this location....

maybe it' would be just easier to replace the deck....

thanks for your time

It would probably be better replacing the stock deck. You'd need an FM modulator which will make the cd's in your changer sound pretty bad. Buy a Sony HU and the changer will be plug 'n play.

Sounds like you have the 7000 audio unit- if that is the case and the cd player you have is the Sony t 69 all you need is the adapter box and the cable from the cd unit to the 7000 and a pair of good quality RCAs, assuming you have that cable, the adapter is readily available, but beware they range in price a bit DO NOT GET a cheapo one as I made that mistake and have had nothing but alternator whine ever since, inspite of spending £45.00 on a pair of sheilded RCAs. Be sure to run the RCAs on the opposite side to the main power lead from the cd player, I ran mine down the passenger side and the power down my side to try and avoid noise!
The adapter in the UK costs about £50.00Hope this helps mate- CHEERS!

The units overseas are totally different from the ones here in the States. If you have the changer buttons, adding a changer should be fairly simple. I did the same thing with mine. I bought a Kenwood changer from Crutchfield and the adapter from them for like $180 and all I needed to do is to remove the passenger side rear quarter panel and connected the wires and route it up to whereever you want and voila! It works.
