97 control trac...bad clicking when in 4 low??

I have a 1997 Control trac xlt explorer...whenever I put it in 4 high or 4 low it clicks really loudly and also when turning the steering wheel?? I was just wondering if anyone else has had this sort of problem or if anyone knows what it could be?

Were you on pavement or off road ? If you were on pavement that is why it clicks. I had the same problem when i did it on pavement. no problems off road.

yes it was on pavement...i just bought it and was testing it out to see if it clicked in..
I'll have to take it to some mud and try it out

Mine did that after a ride through a field. I pulled out a stalk from the transfer case and clicking went away. Probably not your issue, but this was mine.
