To anyone with an opinion !!!

I might have an opportunity to by a 97 EB 5.0L All Wheel Drive Explorer that is fully loaded. It has 75K miles, leather, power seats, indash cassette w/ changer, independent sound controls for the rear passengers, subwoofer, rear air, roof rack, trip computer, fog lights, chrome wheels, fender flares and running boards for about $12,000. How good of a deal is this and what can I do to it? I know that there isn't much on the market for it.

I wanted to look at getting better performance on and off road out of it. Does any one make headers for it? I looked under the hood and the stock exhaust manifold is a joke. Is there any form of suspension lift available. I'm sure I could find a body lift, but I would much rather do a small suspension instead. It has the factory flares and running boards that I don't particularly like, but with bigger wheels and tires, could look ok. How well will 31x10.5's fit? I won't be off-road very often, as it will be a daily driver, but all my friends have 4x4 trucks and love to go playing. I don't like the idea of having to get pulled out by them.

Are there any weak spots or trouble areas that I should be aware of? Please inform me of them as I am clueless at this point.

Thanks in advance

The only headers I have found (and I used) are Ford Motorsports. They are Stainless Steel and only cost $250 for the set at the local Ford dealer. Bolt to the stock exhaust pipes, have the EGR fitting etc.
I also have the MagnaFlow 15421 muffler with a 3" tailpipe. Straight thru design and a direct bolt in (flange, hangars etc...).
Mine runs great!
