Well the car I bought to replace my Explorer for work is a 1997 Escort/Merc Tracer and all is well but I would like to get a replacement motor started on it as this on is getting u in miles. But the feed back I am getting from the salvage yard is that it takes a 1997 ONLY motor. Does anyone know why this is?
When I went to salvage yard all 1.9L 4cyl from 1996 - 2000 look identical. I am stumped, and I dont want to buy a motor from a 2000 only to find that the trans bell housing bolts are totally different. if is something simple like Evap or emission differences I can deal with.
Thanks for any feed back gang!
