Hello everyone...Love this site..
I haved searched this form to try and find the answer to my problem. And sorry if the answer is out there.
Im having a problem with my 4x4. I have a 97 explorer with the v6 4 door. 156,000 miles.
one day i was driving i noticed my 4x4 high and 4x4 low light blinking 6 times. Took it to a trans shop and was told relay for the 4x4 module.
When i turn the 4x4 switch i can hear the transfer case "clank" into gears. Doesnt seem like my front axle is engaged. When in 4x4 only back tires spin. Also i noticed a sound coming from up front and sounds like i have no brake pads. I changed fluid and used what is required. also get some type of a feeling like i have a bald spot on my tire "the bump feeling" When i unplug the main wiring harness for transfer case it quiets up and its smooth. I have tested all relays that i could find and fuses. Transfer case fluid is good and i have no other codes. also when its in 2x4 or 4x4 the front axle is not free and for the life of me dont see any actuator. any help would be great...Happy holidays
