97 Explorer: Location of OBDII diagnostic socket?

Can someone tell me where the ODBII diagnostic socket is? Got my hands on a code reader but can't seem to locate it. BTW, it's a 1997 explorer sport.

Under the steering wheel, possibly under a small removable panel. Should be close to the hood handle.

Should be on the panel directly under the steering column, by the hood release. There is a small cover over it, just pull it straight out.
