just bought a 97 4.0 automatic 4x4. truck has 124k miles. the prev owner sold it cheap because he said the tranny would start to slip after driving about 15-20 miles. i am trying to figure out what the problem is. i drove it about 5 miles today and i didnt feel it slip but when i took off at a stop light it shuttered real hard and had a loss of power. after i pulled over and took off it drove fine. ive been reading maybe its a pump seal or the groove on the pump? any ideas? im not sure a flush will cure the problem but i have not clue on the previous maintenance of the tranny.
