1997 explorer won't shift out of 1st gear. OD light is flashing, And there's no metal in pan. Is there a way to fix on the cheap ? Without replacing ?

1. Won't shift out of 1st gear.
Response: check the shift lever on the tranny. You should be able to manually shift between 1,2,3 and drive.
2. OD light is flashing
Response: Check the ground wire at the transfer shift motor and the connector.
3. Scan for codes. DTC.

Od light flashing means you are in limp mode
You need to scan the transmission trouble codes
The codes will tell you what is wrong
