The idea with this Explorer was to drive it while I was doing all the things I've been saying I was going to do to the old 84 Chevy. Seems I have an issue driving something with a bunch of little problems so............. Found play in the right rear axle bearing so last weekend I changed out both sides with help from this site. I have been chasing a grinding sound that I was sure was coming from the front right side. Pulled the wheel and checked but everything seemed tight. A friend that made his living as an auto tech for years told me that if it seemed to be coming from the right side it was probably the left. Pulled the wheel today and he was right. The hub bearing is shot. While waiting for the new one I will spend time this weekend changing the serpentine belt and getting some fresh oil and filter in it. Might change the front diff oil but I'm noticing a little more play in the diff than I like. Might have to look into that later.
