First off I would like to again thank anyone who has ever replied to any of my questions. There are a lot of repairs I was able to do myself so I say this forum is INVALUABLE.
Ok, I've been hearing 2 different noises from my front end. My ex wrecked my X a while back. It wasn't too bad but she it a median wall in the left front and left rear. I had to replace all the steering parts, rotor, and I went ahead and did all 4 ball joints too. I hear a slight but consistent rumble that gets louder when making a right-hand turn. I'm thinking since the accident was enough to break the tie-rod in half that my bearings prolly got it too. So I plan to replace the whole assy. (hub) on that side.
Noise #2: After driving for almost 3 years without a front driveshaft (and carrying a block of wood to keep the vehicle from rolling off) I put in a new driveshaft. I checked the front diff and I added very little oil to it (1/3 cup) til it was running back out of the fill hole. Now I hear a "gears" sound when driving. It's especially noticeable when NOT under load like when going downhill on the interstate. My question is could the wreck have caused damage inside the diff? I can't remember how noisy the front diff normally is.
Thanks a bunch
