i have a 97 mountaineer, the autolamp and autodim mirror use to work until my friend decided to push the keyless pad and lock my vehicle. i have checked all of the fuses and the regular switch works. i found what looks like a reset button on the bottom of the mirror. any ideas on how to get it to work again?

This is what I would do:

Disconnect the electrical connector to the back of the mirror. Grab a Voltmeter and connect the black wire to a ground and the red wire into the hole in the mirror harness that corresponds with the lite green/yellow wire. You should read about 12 volts. That is the constant voltage wire.

Now to check the ignition voltage wire:
Keep the black wire on ground and connect the red wire to the red/yellow wire hole on the harness. Make sure your vehicle's ignition is on. You should read 12 volts.

Check the ground.
Keep black wire connected to another ground and red wire to the hole for the black wire in the harness. Set your voltmeter to read ohms. You should have zero ohms to indicated that your ground wire is grounded properly.

I would most likely say your ground is bad.

Let me know your results and I can help you futher.

Also check the white/ppl wire like you would a ground. Except that it turns into a ground when it is dark enough outside. So pull your car into the garage or cover up the windshield and test to see if the white/ppl wire reads the same as the ground should
