I have a 97 that is stuck in 4WD. It's in the shop right now but after reading a few posts here it's not sounding good. I also have a lurching/jerking motion when I start from a stop. I am gonna go out on a limb and say this is gonna cost a bunch. Right? Any help or suggestions would be helpful.

Maybe not. I had that happen on mine ('97 Sport) a while back, under warranty, and it was just the computer. They reset it and it went back to normal.

The jerking is probably normal, since it is on 4WD. Especially because this system is not setup to be used on pavement.

You should unplug your battery for 10-15 minutes, and then plug it again. This should reset your computer, and maybe hopefully fix it.

Good luck!!!

Well, it's still in the shop, but if they don't find anything soon I'll just ask them to give it back. Thanks for the help.

stuck in 4wd

Good Day From Australia .
Yes try changing the transfer case speed senors or try to clean them .
The front one is behind the electric motor on your transfer case and the rear is under your rear tail shaft at the back of your transfer case .
I had to replace the front one that fix it , do you have flashing 4wd ?
