97 XLT - 4WD won't disengage!

Recently had the Dana transfer case out of the vehicle. The car now stays in 4WD all the time. Appreciate all the help i can get. dash board indicator lights flash on and off THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

When you say dash board indicators - you mean the 4wd HI and LO lights? If so the amount of times it flashes is a code. Retrieve the code and come back to us

Welcome to this forum! Did you read the sticky on rebuilding the 4 X 4 shift motor thread in the transmissions, and transfer cases forum? You mentioned that you had the transfer case out recently. Did you have the same problem before you removed it, or is this a new problem that developed afterwards?
