Greetings,
I'm in a fix and need to get it running asap! I had just finished filling up my radiator today after changing the antifreeze, and the engine died. I cranked it up, test drove it for about 20 minutes and it died again. Since then it has gotten progressively worse, now it is a chore to get it cranked at all. When I finally get it cranked, it will sometimes idle rough, and sometimes it runs smooth. Every time, however, the rpm will drop down to about 1000 and it will die. When I try to crank it, it tries to fire at first, then just spins like it is not getting fuel or fire.
In recent weeks I have replaced the plugs, wires, and IAC valve and changed the oil. Friday I noticed a hose from my EGR valve had broken and I replaced it. The truck ran fine afterwards and today is the first time it began acting strangely. It is in my driveway and I am 30 minutes from the closest shop. I need help badly!
Will a bad egr valve cause one not to crank at all? Or do you think it is a sensor of some kind. Could water have splashed on something today while I was refilling the radiator and killed it?
Thanks,
David
