Noticed that fluid has been sprayed in the wheel well and the under carriage on the passenger side of my 98' Explorer. Seems that the culprit is from a torn boot that's on a tie rod? It's the bar right behind what I believe is the sway bar. Anyone have a clue what could be going on? Thanks as always

I assume you're talking about the CV joint boot. If there is no damage to the CV you can just get a new boot for it i believe. I would do this asap or you may damage the CV buy lack of grease, or debris getting into it.

Didn't know that a CV joint had that much grease. As it looks like about a quart of fluid has been sprayed under the vehicle.

My mistake the rod's in front of the sway bar. So it's about 1/2" dia. rod that is attached to the wheel where there's a donut style bushing. The boot is about 6" up the rod towards the center of the undercarriage. I would call it a control or steering arm.

My guess would be a leaking rack&pinion.
