Does anybody know where I can go to have a 3rd row seat installed in my '98 Explorer in the NYC area? I tried the dealer, but I was told it's not supported.

I'm looking for creative practical ideas.

Thanks!

Welcome to the site, I know I have seen rear facing 3rd row seats before. They are not factory, I know steel horse makes them. You have to buy a mounting kit for it also. They go in the cargo area and face the back window, they mount back to back with the 2nd row.

Thanks! It's just what I needed!

I just saw the one at PP and the steel horse one is a whole lot cheaper.

AVI - which 3rd row seat did you end up getting for you 98 EB? Any further insight into your choice?

Thanks!

Hi.

I got a seat from littlepassengerseats.com. It's a small company that focuses on aftermarket 3rd row seats for SUVs.

The seat was $700 for a cloth seat (don't need leather for the kids to ruin), two headrests, 3 lap belts and shipping. It was very simple to install, although you really need another person to help you install it, even though the website says it's a one man job. My install time was 2.5 hours which includes installing a bracket backwards and reinstalling it!

The one thing I was impressed with was when I called the number on their website, a guy answered the phone and answered all my questions. When I asked him what happenes if I have difficulty installing it, he told me to just call & he would stay on the phone with me until I get it right!

Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks for the info Avi.
Now I need to distill the info vs budget.
