I was wondering if anyone has replaced a cat when replacing this sensor?

Would a clogged cat cause this sensor to "melt"? Thanks for any input.

Something similar...

I have had a clogged catalytic convertor cause the hoses to blow off the DPFE sensor and when I used a hose clamp to retain the hoses on the sensor the extra heat from the front catalytic convertor being melted did cause the one of the sensor hose nipples to melt and one of the vacuum hoses to melt as well...

If your sensor is melted, unless you can attribute that damage to something else, I would check the flow of your convertors and look into replacing one or all of the convertors at the same time...

DPFE's go bad.. Replace it and see if your codes clear.

when mine melted there were no codes. all I herd was what sounded like a exhaust leak and i didnt bother to look under the hood for a few days.. when i finally did the sensor was melted completely in half with little shards of melted dried plastic on the VC and under side of the hood.
that little plastic thing was $50 at autozone
