I've had my transfer case apart since March waiting for the time and, most importantly, the confidence to put it back together. I started reassembling it today and have forgotten where one part goes. I believe it's a thrust bearing. Can anyone help? How should it be oriented, notches toward front of rear of the vehicle?

In the seal kit there are two "T"-profile seals and an oring that I don't remember taking out. Could they be for a different model transfer case?

Also, the grommet in the rear case that the brown wire goes through is cracked. Can they be found anywhere? The local Ford dealer isn't much help when it comes to TC or transmission parts.....

Thanks,
Bryan

Bryan the two t gaskets are for under the washer & nut that hold the driveshaft flange on. They often send an extra. The o ring is for a 97 speedo sensor. I'll check the washer, but it doesn't matter which way you flip it.

Yes sir you have it!

What about the grommet for the brown wire? It's broken off flush with the outside of the case. It had a slight leak when it was running, but I would like to replace it while it's apart....

Thanks

I pulled the electromagnet out of the rear half tonight and it appears what I thought was a specialized grommet is simply an o-ring in a counterbore. It looks like a .50 O.D. x .25 I.D. Hopefully a new oring will take care of the slight leak it had... I don't want to have to pull this thing again!!!...
