'98 Explorer blend door problem

I know alot of you have had a problem with your blend door on your automatic climate control. I bought my Explorer used and am trying to figure out how to fix the problem without taking it to the dealer and spending big bucks. I've searched the messages - smithg3 was able to "jury rig" the system so that it worked without removing the dash but he didn't explain what he did.

I know you're probably all getting tired of beating this dead horse but if someone can help me out I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I don't know if there is a way around it. Besides turning it on and off to keep the right temp (since it blows all cold or all hot air) there isn't much you can do. Mine was under warranty and they had to keep it for 2 days because more or less averything back to the firewall had to be removed.
