I have a 98 Explorer with the SOHC V6 and every once in a while when I jump in it will crank over but not start and it usally takes about 3 - 6 times before it fires....almost like the computer is not letting fuel go to the injectors. I changed the IAC a couple months ago....

the only time this occured (3 times) it has been very cold, below freezing...any ideas?

When was the last time you had your fuel filter changed? If it doesn't start at first, turn the key to on & off about 3-4 times and then start it. I suspect your fuel pump or relay may also be acting up.

I do have 103,000 miles on it so could be.....just odd that it is fine for a while then acts up....I do turn the key all they way off and on and that seems to help....like i said it only happened like 3 times in a couple months...

also when I back up...and only when i back up the truck will stall when I put it in forward.....not often....but it seems to bog down in reverse....
