98 Explorer front blower is not working. No air is coming out of the front vents.

The blower on my 98 explorer quit working the other day then just started working until today when again it wont run. Fuses seam to be fine. A/C also working, just not blowing air. Rear blower is working fine. Any ideas?

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the stock 95-01 section. Unplug the connection to the blower, and see if there is voltage present. If there is, then the blower motor is defective or the plug might have a bad connection. If there is no voltage, then check the blower resistor.
 






damn lol i saw the name of this thread and was hoping blower as in forced induction blower lol oh well ^_^
 












Does it work on high or not? If the fan works on high, but no other position, replace the resistor pack on the blower housing. If it doesn't work on ANY speed, odds are it's the motor itself or the power supply/ground that feed it. A quick check with a multimeter will verify that.

Sounds like the same problem I had with my '96 this summer. Sometimes would work, sometimes not. An easy way to check the blower is to tap the housing with a hammer. Turn the key to ON and turn the fan speed up as high as it will go. Next, tap the housing and the blower should come on.

I'm told this is an effective way to test many electric motors (works for starter too) because the brushes wear out and tapping somehow helps to get started, but it is not a permanent fix.
