Hello,
I have a US/Canada made 1998 Explorer Sport 2dr V6. I assumed the alarm was factory as it appeared to me to be factory, yet according to my local dealer (not where I bought the car) - it is not. They told me they could not help me get a new clicker because the alarm is not factory.
Because of this, I have not been using the alarm clicker for quite some time.
Occasionally, it seems as if the alarm completely shuts everything down - as it's doing right now. Even though my battery is brand new, I've got no power.
The dealer warned me that this might happen. Apparently I need to reset the alarm, but I have no idea how to do this. You'd think a call to the dealer would help (they "reset" the alarm last time they saw the car) but they told me I'd have to tow it over there, which I can't afford.
I'm sure you all need more info about my alarm before you can advise me? I need to reset it.

ADDITIONAL INFO 3/14: I don't believe this is the PATS system (even though I do believe the car has PATS) because the "Theft" light is not on. Absolutely nothing works - no power - not even the door locks from the button on the door. I suppose even though I have a brand new dealer installed battery, that it could have somehow gone bad. I guess I will have it towed to the dealer.
