Hey guys , well i got the new Chain Guides it and had to tow it to a ford dealer to have the CAM timed up for me, cause i dont have the TOOL to do it myself ,, after getting it towed back home i put it all back together and it fired right up ,,, sounded good ,, so i filled up the rad ,, checking for leaks ,, drove it up the rd & around the yard ,, worked good all day ,, than come evening i went out and started it again and drove around and it started idling real rough ,, than a bit later it started "choking" out ,, i put the peddle to the floor and it would only go up to like 3000 rpm spitting & sputtering ,, so i shut it off ,, started it back up same thing ,, THAN the 3 rd time it started "RATTLING" loud than died ( im like oh no not the rattle again) ,, than all it would do it roll & roll ,no go ,, Checked the fuel pressure and its fine,, Spark is fine, but no go ,, after a few hrs i tried it again and all it did was make a KICK than roll & roll nothing,,Few hrs later another KICK than nothing ,, just rolls over & over ,, than checking the plugs again with my neighbor we notice the Plugs were soaked,, He said its flooding out ,, than he said hold the peddle to floor than roll it ,, when i did it would run for a few secs!!,,(5 secs or so) and just kick & kick ,, took the throttle body to air filter hose off and GAS ran out of it !!!! n e one know what would cause this ????/

Is your fuel pressure regulator "regulating"? What about a bad injector just dumping fuel? That sounds like a TON of fuel and probably the reason it was spitting and sputtering and why now it won't start.

I'm still wondering about what could cause a rattling like that, though.

how do i check the regulator ?? (i had the little hose off it and it was dry)(check that fr reading other threads),,, How do you check injectors( fuel pressure test,, pressure drop fast ??),,,,,,,,,,,Yaa the BAD rattle (which is 2x times louder than it was when Before i clean out the old broken chain guides and put new on in ) i'll have to figure that out after i get it to running,,,,,,,, FUNNY thing is when i had it running ealier for that 10 -- 15 secs whatever it was ,, it was nice and quiet,,( i thought it was gonna keep running ) than when it started rattling/knocking (awful noise ) thats when the motor died ,, than when i tried to restart ,, nothing ,, just rolled and rolled ,,,:(

Brian, yes, when you pull the vacuum line off of the fuel pressure regulator it SHOULD be dry, and yours is, so I'll assume that it's ok then.

Injector test? I'm not sure, sorry!!! I HAVE used "noid" lights that hook up to the injector harness. They illuminate with the pulse of the injector spray so you know that the injector is firing correctly.

I also know, as do you, that the fuel pressure can me measured at the schrader valve on the fuel rail, but I have no idea what the specs should be on that.

Lets keep this thread going...everyone will be able to figure this out!!!

Hey ,, yes it would be nice to figure this out before i have to once again tow it to the dealer to fix and costing me more $$ i dont have :( ,,, i did a fuel pressure test ,, almost 50 psi (sooo i take it thats alright?),,,,,,,, other posts/threads i read say could be out of time ?? Engine Temp Sensor ,, bad PCM ,, and a fella i know who is a mechanic said it must of jumped it timing ,, but how would jump it timing dump a whole bunch of fuel ??? He told me to check Compression on all the cyl, see if one side is lower than the other side (one that i had CAM Guides replaced on that Ford dealer timed up did for me) if that side has lower compression than other than CAM is off timing ,,,,

OK...your fuel pressure is GOOD...50's is where you want it...I'm checking into the timing issue...it does make sense.

The only way gas could come up the intake is it the timing belt jumped or CAM timing is out and either or can cause a jump back and the compression would throw the gas back up into the intake as the valves were still open.

Looks like flooding is what it will look like or the injectors or one of them could be peeing gas out more then it should be.

Now you stated you heard a Rattle before all this happned, unfortunately engines should not rattle and this indicates you may have the same issue as you did prior to the guides being changed.

I know that sounds like the buggers eh?

Just check it if need to be or have ford look at it again for CAM timing, but if it jumped they will know.

maybe the swell guys at ford timed the cams and didnt tighten the sprockets enough. that would mess timing up, and rattle.

ohh man that would suck if they forgot to torque down the Cam sprocket arhhhh ,,,,,, im gonna do a compression test tomorrow morn and go fr there,,,,,, They only had to touch the frt , drivers side CAM ,, so if its that ,, they should have to stand by it if that cam is off time ,,,

OK Brian...keep us posted...I'm off to bed, I have a day of turning wrenches ahead of me too!!!

Although, that's what I do every day anyways!!!

Hey guys ,,, did a COMPRESSION test this morning once it stopped raining ,, and not goood ,,, Drivers side (4,5,6) 0 compression !!!!( or well less and 25 psi cause my gauge starts @ 25psi),,, ,,, pass, side (1,2,3) 130 + psi ,,, sooo shes only running on 3 cyl's,!!! so now gotta figure out what is causing that ,,,Jumped it time,, Cam sprocket slipping ,, ???

Hey took intake PLENUM off and could see the intake valves down the port holes ,, # 6 intake seat is all broke and the valve wont even go shut,,

Thats not a very good sign as it is a sign of a timing adjustment gone terribly wrong, whether CAM or Crankshaft adjustment, but the crankshaft position sensor is all electronic.

If it was a CAMsensor issue then FORD is who i be going after now if they screwed something up.

Is the valve Bent that you can see?

Take that valve cover off that side to see more damage if any.

This is a major issue you have which includes tearing that head off and looking at all the valves and damage they occured. Take pictures of all damage and stuff if you can.

Check to see if the CAM sprockets were loose take pictures and Tell Ford about this issue before proceding any further to see what they will do for you, if this is their fault they may try to blame you or state no way it can't be their fault.

Worse Case scenario = new head or seats, new valve or valves for that side, new head gasket. CamSensor and sprockets if damanged and whatever else, timing chain if need to be or guides if they got damaged.

This is not a simple go fix it now issue (unless you have spare parts already), this is a catostropic failure somewhere, but can be fixed, but to what cost to you is the question.

yaa soon gonna start tearing the HEAD off and see what the damage is & go fr there,,, i can buy a whole 95 Explorer for $400 sooooo there will be all the parts i ever need , replace the HEAD (if thats all it needs) and take it somewhere else this time to get it timed up ,,,
