98 Mountaineer A/C problem

We just recently picked up a fairly nice, fully optioned, 98 Mountaineer w/ the 5.0. The a/c is blowing hot, so I'm sure it needs recharged. The problem I'm having with it, is, the auto air. How to turn it off? It comes on, hit the "off" button , and seconds later, it's back on. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Most likely there is a fault in the keypad itself. Pretty hard to find and fix, but replacement head units are readily available; cost is about $100. Good luck.
