'98 Mountaineer V8...now with LOW RANGE!!!

wait, you got a mpg increase after the swap?!

mine seemed to be the same after averaging a few tanks before and after the swap despite maintaining the same driving habits :(

Sure did. I've averaged the mileage of almost every tank since I've had the truck. (I have issues-I know) My mileage hovered consistently around 15.5-16 combined city/hwy. I'm only on my 3rd tank since the swap but the 1st tank yeilded a solid 17 and the second was 16.5. My Garmin logged a lower moving average on the 2nd tank than I typically get over the life of a tank which tells me I had fewer hwy miles. I'm gonna do an average on about a 100 gallons or so to get a good number. Wonder why you didn't get an increase? I'd be frustrated.

Ok, long term testing has revealed that my average improved by only about 1 mpg. Not as good as I had originally thought but not a bad perk. Extra 20 miles per tank and low range, definately worth the work involved.

Same here. Not much mpg increase maybe one at best. But doesn't matter, it was all worth it for the low range :)
