98 Ranger XLT dome light problems.

My dome light stays on wheather the doors are shut or not
ford says the latch assembly needs to be replaced 175 a door
any one have any ideas ive tried wd 40 as advised but it didnt
work???

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the Ranger section. You could test the part with a test light to determine if it's the cause of the problem. Did you check the dome light switch? Maybe it's on?

thanks for the idea its not the dome light switch but Ill check it to
ford says its the switch whictch is interagrated in the door latch

It is a pain to get to the latch. I just cut the wire to the latch and uses the overhead switch to turn light one.

I unplugged both door wires and it still lit the lights

One of the wire must be cut to disconnect the power to the light and door ajar.

hi, had the same problem to,first just took the bulb out. then i got some ZEP AND SPRAYED THE LATCHES,and what ever looked like needed spraying a couple of times and it stoped sticking. could be electical though.
