Hello,
I recently purchased a 1998 Explorer Sport with the 6cyl OHV and manual transmission and have been browsing the forums looking for information. Basically, we've had the truck for about three weeks now and wanted to change the boring shift knob to something a little nicer or even put a short shift kit in. I searched in the forums here, looked at the B&M, HURST, JEGS, and Summitt Racing web sites and found nothing. A few minutes ago, I took the shift knob off prior to reading the HAYNES manual that came with the truck and realized I broke the plastic insert. Instead of heating it with a heat gun and tapping it off, I assumed it twisted off like most shift knobs and well, forced it off
Needless to say I now need to find some kind of replacement knob or short shift kit since the knob is not really going to stay on. I apologize if this is a repost but as I mentioned earlier, I tried searching the forum and other websites and found nothing.
As for some information on the Sport, it's got a black exterior with black tint, factory side step bars, grey cloth interior, and is 90,000miles young. Everything is stock except for a Pioneer CD player but we do plan on modifying it.
On another note, I would like to compliment you guys on the great website and helpful atmosphere. I look foward to talking to some of you and would appreciate any advice.
Thanks
