Girlfriends 98 xsport check engine light on, rough idle and..

shop told her it was O2 sensor. If so where do I start( which one)? Also she has a power door lock problem on the drivers door. The key won't unlock, you must go through other side and work the button and pull the handle to unlock. Lastly, her theft light is flashing occasionally. Any help out there on these probs? Thanks in advance!:)

The shop should have given you the actual code. You have 4 O2 sensors in that year I believe, and the Code would have pinpointed which one was out of range and in which direction. A scanner would be really helpful on this one. Go get the actual code and let us know what it is.

1st question: why did you bump your post after only 18 minutes? That's unnecessary, this board isn't THAT busy.

You must replace O2 sensors in pairs; otherwise the readings will be off for each side of the engine...

As to which O2s are bad and how many, that depends on what year Explorer you're talking about. If it's an 02 like your prof says, then I don't know how many O2s you're talking. At least 4, not all of which may actually be bad.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll try to get the codes and go from there. Its helpful knowing a little more about about how many it has. Rhett as I stated in the title its my girl's 98 xsport. Oh and I bumped it cause she's breathing down my neck about it.
