'99 2 door sport
After a year of owning my wife's 99 2 door sport I have become so impressed with its offroad capabilities that I struck a deal with her. The deal is she gets a car and I get the "exploder". Just to show my enthusiasm for the exploder I am giving up my 1991 F250 king cab 4x4 with the 460 CID 9" lift and 38" swampers (along with many other add ons) to seal the deal. By the way I am the original owner, I love my truck, and we have too many great off road stories together to list but on to better things. As I am new to the Explorer modification world I have a few questions you guys might be able to answer for me. First I have a set of 32x9x16 Super Swampers do I need a lift to put them on in place of the stock 255/70/16 rubber. Second where do I find a good lift for a good price (I have not had much luck hunting for one). Lastly how sturdy has the stock suspension components, bearings, and most importantly the automatic transfer case proven after larger tires and frequent wheelin. I appreciate any help I can get. You can respond here or to my email kchein@bluefrognet.net
Thanks,
Kelly M. Hein

Welcome to the site, There are alot of different options for clearing larger tires. You can do something as simple as a torsion twist and shackles and you should be able to clear 32s with some minor trimming. There is also a 4" suspension lift made by either trailmaster or superlift, also a 3" body lift from a ranger can be made to fit your truck. The popular thing to do now is a solid axle swap. there are atleast 5 people who have done it recently or are working on doing it. The stock suspension components stand up pretty well to 4 wheeling. the stock 8.8" rear axle is very strong and the front ifs is also durable. i run 33s and i know multiple people who run 35s and dont have many problems.
