Next on my list is the intake manifold gasket...I've got pinging going on as well as a loss of oil w/o a trace of oil burning ANYWHERE except the threads of the spark plugs on the drivers side. My compression is good, between 160-170 on all cylinders, compression gauge rises immediately. 82,000 miles.

I've been told by a couple members here that had unexplained oil loss and pinging that if oil is being sucked into the manifold, THIS will cause pinging!!!

I would have NEVER thought of that one.

OK, my question...FORD gasket set or FELPRO set? Felpro is $90 for the complete set (upper, lower, valve cover, etc) It's a 1-piece and looks metal (the lower intake). Don't know the price on the FORD part.

Oops...I guess I missed something obvious...there IS a little oil in the upper intake manifold...I looked inside through the throttle body and it's shiny on the bottom of the manifold.

Weird...the air filter box, air filter, intake hose, etc are SPOTLESS...they look brand new on the inside.

I had BAD blow-by when my Wrangler's rings were shot. The air filter/box would be SOAKED in oil.
