99 automatic no reverse.

Hi, been a while since my last visit, my 91 miled out and I had to shoot her. Looking at this 99 in great shape but no reverse. I s this a cheap/common fix or should I run away screaming? Thanx Iain.

No reverse = tranny rebuild I would say,how does the fluid look? Is it black and smelly,what engine and tranny? If it's a v6 sohc on top of it I would run from it,the tranny is crap much like the trans in my 94 is and with all of the engine problems I see listed for them,no thanks.

I bought a 99 with no REV thinking it would be a simple fix. Sometimes it is simple like a valve body or servo, but sometimes you wind up like me - replacing the whole trans and possibly the transfer case too.

If you DO decide to buy anyways "friend me" or PM me so I can point you to some good threads and share the info I have accumulated along the way

Why not find out what trouble codes are present which MIGHT give a clue as to the extent of trans. work needed? It COULD be nothing more than a solenoid issue. imp
