99 bumper process to install

i know someone has put a new bumper on a 96 xlt, but what do i need to buy besides the $90 dollar bumper from bumpers.com. Thanks

You need the reenforcement behide the bumper. Get a hold of PURPONY he just did the swap. I am sure he could help you out!!!!

ya i hear thats expensive is there any way i can get it cheap?

You could check your local junk yards for it. Or PURPONY might still have his old bumber and renforcement- It is a 96 limited already painted black- I replaced my chrome one with a limited what a differtance. Looke under explorer sport trucks and click on pictures. Mine is the Green One.

Perhaps a junkyard that has an Explorer that has been rearended or hit on the side? Just an idea. Make sure the structural integrity of the part if fine if you find one, however.

i was interested in doing this too. i have a 97 xlt would i still need the reinforcements?
