'99 Cruise Control and Rear Windsheild Wiper

I just bought a '99 XLT and have found that the cruise control illumination lights in the steering wheel are blown. Does anyone know how to fix these? Also, the rear windsheild wiper does not contact the rear glass when turned out except for the about 10 inches. I've noticed other explorers w/ this problem also. Does anyone know the fix for this? It seems that the tension spring is not strong enough to pull the wiper to the glass.

This updated arm worked for me

SOME 1998-2002 EXPLORER SPORT AND 1998-2001 EXPlORER/MOUNTAINEERS MAY EXHIBIT A REAR WIPER THAT DOES NOT SUFFICIENTLY CLEAN THE BACK GLASS. TO SERVICE, FIRST INSPECT FOR THE LETTERS 'AB' STAMPED ON THE WIPER ARM JUST BELOW THE WIPER BLADE PIVOT PIN. IF THE LETTERS ARE NOT STAMPED ON THE ARM, INSTALL NEW SERVICE ARM PART # XL2Z-17526-AA. NOTE: ENSURE THAT THE NEW SERVICE ARM ASSEMBLY HAS THE LETTERS -AB' STAMPED ON ORIGINAL WIPERS WITH 'AB' STAMPED NEAR THE PIVOT PIN WERE REVISED TO APPLY MORE PRESSURE TO THE BACK GLASS

Yep, That arm worked for me too. Works great now.
Try a search for your questions and you will find a ton of information on here from previous threads. I've seen the cruise control light thread several times. Real good info!

I used my Dremel to cut off the blade "stops" which allowed the wiper to reach the glass.
Probably cheaper to buy a new arm than a Dremel but then you wont have a Dremel & you'll miss the fun.

Dremels rock
