'99 eddie bauer 5.0 AWD upgrades

Def might have to keep a lookout for one of those or a good fox body or another terminator cobra. Been wondering about a good CAI or Throttle body or even plugs and wires.

But do you have any difference in actual gas mileage between those?

Jack them up turn by hand. Free wheeling hubs are easier to turn. Move along.

I have both a 2wd and an AWD with the 5.0. As Koda said, there is a diff in the feel. But as for gas mileage, they are next thing to identical.

Really? You drive with one wheel only?
I am talking about a 4x4 in 2x4 mode. Move all four of them in the same time, see if it is so much better.
Put the Explorer in "N" at 35mph and see which one is rolling more (AWD or 4x4) and what's the difference.

Tire drag and air drag (at over 55mph) is much more relevant. Combined with inertia loss (2 ton vehicle) makes drivetrain losses irrelevant.

Nic I was referring to the truck with free wheeling hubs. And drive train loss is always relevant.

Jack them up. You'll see.

i find my AWD gets slightly less MPG. maybe around 1 MPG less than my 2WD 5.0's, which makes sense to me as the AWD is heavier and there must be additional resistance in having to turn the t-case, front drive shaft, diff gears and axles.
