Hello all. I am new to explorers and body work so I have some questions. I have been reading forums and looking up youtube videos for a week now, but I still could use some help. I am replacing the rocker panels on the 99 explorer I purchased over a week ago. I bought the panels off of rockauto.com and I plan to rivet and/or bolt them in. My question is do I have to cut out the old sections I am replacing or do these rockers fit over top the existing ones? These rockers are one whole piece for the four door explorer and it looks like I should be able to rivet the tops inside the doors and the bottoms along the pinch weld underneath the vehicle. I can post pics later if that is going to help. Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks

In my experience it is better to cut the old ones off and weld the new ones on. I did cab corners on an old ranger and thats how we did it. Unless the ones you have fit right over like you said. A friend of mine just put new rockers over his old ones on an s10 and his doors didnt shut right after that. I could be wrong though.
