Hey guys, this is my first post but ive been searching through here alot lately. I have a 99 explorer XLT 4x4. I just got this truck a few weeks ago and the last week it started doing the 2-3 flare. I looked here and found that this is a common issue. Just yesterday i was driving the truck and the O/D light started flashing and it seemed like the truck wasnt in gear. I was giving it gas and it was barely moving and then i parked and the truck did not want to move until i put it in 1, and this happened all the way home(did not go into reverse either). I was wondering if this is part of the same problem or a whole new problem all together. Also i want to do fix the flare issue, can you guys tell me exactly what parts i need and a website where i can get them. the truck does have almost 200,000 miles should i rebuild the whole thing while im at it?

thnx

Sounds like the valve body needs rebuilt/replaced. Not my area of expertise so I cannot be certain. I'm better off trying to rebuild a computer, Don't get me wrong I can turn a wrench and beat people with it :D

Yea i was thinking of just having it replaced but imma pay for it get it done so i dont want to pay for double the work so i might just get the whole thing rebuild

I was quoted $1,350 to get my A4LD rebuilt. That's with me pulling it and putting it back in. It also included a brand new aftermarket aux transmission cooler to replaced my stock aux cooler. Another $500 for them to pull it and put it back in. That was maybe a month ago.

I could probably get it done for no more than 1 grand. OR i could also get a used transmission for $300 with 3 month warranty
